Importance of Spelling

After reading the article, “Spelling’s not for eveyrone, Mr. Precedent” by Allan Fallow, I began to think about how improper spelling can reduce credibility. If the Library of Congress and the Department of Education, sources that we usually trust, make silly spelling mistakes, what does that say about them? As Fallow explains in his article, “If you can’t figure out the proper arrangement of 26 little letters, what does that say about your larger enterprise?” In other words, a corporation that we look up to, the Department of Education for instance, would lose respect if they couldn’t even get the spelling right when publishing posts online. They won’t be successful in getting their message across if everyone that reads their writing gets distracted by the spelling errors.
